The Yulee Hornets had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 40-31 win over Harvest Community on Friday. That looming 40-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Yulee yet this season.
Yulee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rheyna Hilton led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 14 points, 24 rebounds, and ten blocks. Hilton has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Reid, who scored 12 points along with nine steals and eight rebounds.
Yulee's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-15. As for Harvest Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yulee will face off against Bishop Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harvest Community, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Johns Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Johns Classical Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
