Alliance hasn't had much luck against Gering recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Alliance will look to defend their home field against Gering. Alliance knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Gering likes a good challenge.
Alliance's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Lexington as they made off with a 13-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Bulldogs' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Regan Cornish was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Cornish was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alivia Osborn, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Hudson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Alliance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lexington only posted an OBP of .267.
Meanwhile, Gering didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeview on Saturday and fell 5-4.
Brodee Luce spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Jaleigh Bohac made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
Gering's defeat dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Alliance, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alliance has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Gering struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alliance might still be hurting after the 20-1 loss they got from Gering in their previous matchup last Saturday. Will Alliance have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
