Baseball Recap: Chinle Wins Going Away Against Tuba City

Chinle came out on top against Tuba City on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Warriors. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Kennon Sorrell spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mackaden Arthur and Jakobe Nastacio did most of the damage at the plate: Arthur got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Nastacio went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Chinle is 10-1 when Arthur posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Kaleb Guy was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Chinle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tuba City only posted an OBP of .321.

Chinle is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tuba City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Chinle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 17-3 victory against Ganado on the 16th. As for Tuba City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 loss against Page on the 16th.
