The Coffee Trojans waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They secured a 71-65 W over Jenkins. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Coffee had a senior duo take command as Marquavious Bussey scored 27 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Junitho Benson scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bussey has scored all season. Jy'darius Odums was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven assists and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Jenkins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeremiah James. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. James is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Aj bynum, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Coffee's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Jenkins, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Coffee will head out on the road to face off against Statesboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Statesboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Jenkins, Jenkins and Richmond Hill will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
