Baseball Recap: Old Bridge Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Old Bridge and Seton Hall Prep, and Old Bridge kept the tradition alive. The Knights were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Pirates on Saturday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Brody Nugent made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nugent was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted over his last nine games.

In other pitching news, Brady Meyer tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on John Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Erich Shicksneit also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Old Bridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Seton Hall Prep fell to 7-1.

Coming up, Old Bridge will take on Monroe Township at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Seton Hall Prep, they will challenge Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
