The St. Brendan Sabres will head out on the road to face off against the LaSalle Royal Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (St. Brendan is ranked 256th, while LaSalle is ranked 269th).
Last Friday, everything came up roses for St. Brendan on the road against Westland Hialeah as the team secured a 34-6 victory. The result was nothing new for St. Brendan, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Geovanni Tobon, who rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Tobon's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards. Terrell Franklin also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, LaSalle earned a 30-18 win over Jackson on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for LaSalle.
LaSalle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Stetsen Angelo led the charge by throwing for 212 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Joel Salien, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped St. Brendan to 6-2 and LaSalle to 4-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' contest: St. Brendan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for LaSalle, though, as they've been averaging only 71.1 per game. How will LaSalle fare against such a dominant running game?
St. Brendan was dealt a bruising 35-0 defeat at the hands of LaSalle in their previous meeting back in September of 2021. Thankfully for St. Brendan, Aris Angelo (who threw for 184 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
