Brunswick has won five straight games at home, while Holy Name has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Holy Name's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elyria Catholic.
Reagan Vavro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aubrey Stephens made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Garlow, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Holy Name's defeat dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Brunswick hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Holy Name struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
