Basketball Recap: Indian Land Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Indian Land hadn't done well against Catawba Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Indian Land Warriors came out on top against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads by a score of 63-53. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Copperheads are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Indian Land's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sequel Patterson led the charge by going 8 of 17 en route to 17 points and five assists. That's the most assists Patterson has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Jones, who posted 14 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Catawba Ridge lost, don't look at Mark Caslaru. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. Caslaru is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 21 games he's played. Isaiah Thomas was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Indian Land pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Catawba Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Indian Land will be playing in front of their home fans against Clover at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Clover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Catawba Ridge, they are taking a road trip to take on Nation Ford at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Catawba Ridge is facing Nation Ford at the right time seeing as Nation Ford is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
