After each having a week off, the Sequoyah Chiefs and the Lassiter Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sequoyah's defense has only allowed 12.5 points per game this season, so Lassiter's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Last Friday, Sequoyah came up short against River Ridge and fell 28-21. The game marked the Chiefs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Will Rajecki
09/19/25 @ River Ridge | 101 |
09/12/25 vs Sprayberry | 250 |
09/05/25 @ Riverwood | 157 |
08/29/25 vs Kell | 221 |
Despite the defeat, Sequoyah got top-tier performance from Will Rajecki, who rushed for 101 yards, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one touchdown. Rajecki's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lassiter). They simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Pope 49-7. The game was the first time the Trojans have beaten the Greyhounds on their field since August 26, 2016.
Lassiter's win came from a few key players Sequoyah will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mitch Seaman, who threw for 170 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 40 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (167.8). Another back making a difference was Drew McGee, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Lassiter's run defense was locked in: Pope could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The Trojans didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Lassiter, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Collins Price, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Lassiter's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2. As for Sequoyah, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sequoyah has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lassiter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 173.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sequoyah against Lassiter in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 43-6 victory. In that contest, the Chiefs amassed a halftime lead of 29-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
