Baseball Recap: St. John's Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hilton Head Prep, St. John was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Military Magnet Academy Eagles a 15-0 shutout. The Islanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 15 runs or more this season.

Antonio Hernandez was a standout: he scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Oliver Jayne, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

The win got St. John's back to even at 4-4. As for Military Magnet Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, St. John's will head out on the road to square off against Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Military Magnet Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lowcountry Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
