Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alcorn Central). They came out on top against the Walnut Wildcats by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Noah Canten was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that he's hit this season.

Canten wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zane Depoyster, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Depoyster posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Kreed McCoy also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Alcorn Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Walnut, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alcorn Central will face off against Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Bearcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Baldwyn will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Walnut surely won't give up without a fight.
