Given Vandalia Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Gospel Light Christian is ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Gospel Light Christian had strong showings from Ali Phillips, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds, and Maggie Jo Church, who scored five points along with eight rebounds. Phillips is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Vandalia Christian's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Gospel Light Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Vandalia Christian will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calvary Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Gospel Light Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Guilford Home Educators at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Guilford Home Educators comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
