Olyvia Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Joni Jackson and Raegan Robinson did some serious damage despite the final result: Jackson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base, while Robinson went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Robinson has posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Early suffered their biggest defeat since April 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 16-6 to Comanche. The Longhorns have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jordan Simmons made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Reedy, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Even though they lost, Early was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Early suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 10-4. As for Breckenridge, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-8-1.
Early's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Breckenridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Early, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Breckenridge keep running through batters, or will Early buck the trend?
Everything went Breckenridge's way against Early in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Breckenridge made off with a 10-4 victory. Will Breckenridge repeat their success, or does Early have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
