Loyalton blew past Virginia City, posting a 60-20 victory at home. Loyalton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Loyalton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Holland, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Holland has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexxis Gunier, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Virginia City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Loyalton pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Loyalton now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Virginia City, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loyalton will challenge Plumas Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Virginia City, they will head out on the road to square off against Smith Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Smith Valley is ranked 77th, while Virginia City is ranked 89th).
