The Madison Mohawks were the 50-33 winner over the Arcanum Trojans when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Madison fell 53-44 to the Trojans on Monday.
When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kylie Wells. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Wells is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Emily Webb was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Arcanum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alexis Gibbons led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Anderson, who scored 15 points.
Madison's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Arcanum, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison will take on the Lumberjacks at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Oakwood is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Arcanum, they will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Twin Valley South is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
