Morgan Coulam was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Dani Alexander was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mountain Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hillcrest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Jordan on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. Considering the Huskies have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nyomi Houston was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lila Vawdrey, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Mountain Crest has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-16 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hillcrest, they pushed their record up to 14-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Mountain Crest took their win against Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
