The Gateway Charter Griffins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 30 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 50-20 win over East Lee County on the road. Given Gateway Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while East Lee County is ranked 524th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Alisea Doan, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for she. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Rosario, who scored 12 points.
Gateway Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for East Lee County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway Charter won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Family Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. As for East Lee County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Florida Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest Florida Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
