After a string of eight wins, the Robinson Maroons's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newton. Robinson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Newton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November.
Robinson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elizabeth Shea, who scored 16 points. Alexia Zane was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Robinson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Newton, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robinson will take on Mt. Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Carmel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 267 points over their last four matchups. As for Newton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Flora at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Flora is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
