Downey had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding  56-14 victory over the Modesto Panthers. The  contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  36-6.
Downey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Elias Haynes, who rushed for 185 yards and a pair of  scores on only 13 carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one  TD. Haynes' rushing production has been exceptional  as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 101  rushing yards.  Owen Sacuskie was in the mix  as well, providing Downey with two touchdowns.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Downey was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 341  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 169  rushing yards in seven consecutive  matchups.
 Downey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Sean Standley and  Haynes. Another thorn in Modesto's side was  Josiah Welch, who picked up  1.5  sacks and made four total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Downey's record now sits at 5-3. As for Modesto,  they are  on  a  six-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-6.
