The Waverly Central Tigers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They really took it to Big Sandy for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-27 win at home. The win was just what Waverly Central needed coming off of a 71-37 loss in their prior match.
Bailey Berry and Serenity Chapman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Berry scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks, while Chapman scored four points along with four blocks. That was a full 37% of Big Sandy's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Waverly Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Big Sandy, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.
Waverly Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Big Sandy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against McKenzie at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. McKenzie will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Big Sandy surely won't give up without a fight.
