Salmen is 10-0 against the Rebels since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Salmen Spartans will look to defend their home court against the Pearl River Rebels at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Salmen had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Kentwood, posting a 73-25 victory at home. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for Salmen this season.
Shawn Washington was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Jeremiah Carter was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pearl River ended up a good deal behind the Jaguar on Monday and lost 78-63. Pearl River has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Salmen's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Pearl River, they dropped their record down to 12-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Salmen against the Rebels in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 90-59 win. Will Salmen repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
