Brazos is 2-7 against Van Vleck since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Brazos Cougars will be playing at home against the Van Vleck Leopards at 6:30 p.m. Brazos comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, Brazos was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 30-24 to Hempstead.
Even though Van Vleck has not done well against East Bernard recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Van Vleck sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 victory over East Bernard. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Brazos' loss was their ninth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-22. As for Van Vleck, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Brazos took a serious blow against Van Vleck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 51-16. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Van Vleck's Tia Fields, who scored 22 points. Now that Brazos knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
