After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oilton, Paden was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Leflore Savages. Considering the Pirates have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jax McNeill was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. McNeill was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That hit was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Paden got a massive performance out of Kanin Case, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Case a new career-high in RBI (three). Jordan McKinney also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Paden was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Paden pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Leflore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5-1 record this season.
Paden will face off against Olive at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Leflore, they will square off against New Lima at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
