Philip Mwawasi Delivers Best Effort of Season
St. Paul's Prep was led to victory by Philip Mwawasi, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Mwawasi rushed for 285 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (132). Those 285 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
With the win, St. Paul's Prep broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4. Mwawasi and St. Paul's Prep will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Waco Christian at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Jaxton Miller Crosses Big Stat Threshold
Dallas Academy had to settle for second on Friday, but Jaxton Miller sure wasn't going down easily. Miller made a major impact, rushing for 271 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (164).
Dallas Academy is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. Miller and Dallas Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Methodist Children's Home at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.

Another Game with at Least Three Passing Touchdowns from Lukas Dibenedetto
St. Paul's Prep was led to victory by Lukas Dibenedetto, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Dibenedetto rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August of 2023. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
On the year, Dibenedetto has thrown 15 touchdowns (and and only 2 picks) while averaging 167.8 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 1.4 rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 40.8 rushing yards.

Ty Zimmerhanzel's Big Game Leads St. Mary's over Waco Christian
Ty Zimmerhanzel helped snap St. Mary's five-game losing streak dating back to last season. Zimmerhanzel was unstoppable on Friday, rushing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
St. Mary's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. Zimmerhanzel and St. Mary's will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Methodist Children's Home at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.

Josh Maki Makes It Two for Dallas Academy
The second Dallas Academy player making an appearance here is Josh Maki, and for good reason. He rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 51 yards and a touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble, making six total tackles, and defending three passes.
This year, Maki has thrown 3 touchdowns while averaging 49.2 passing yards per game.
