The Simi Valley Pioneers posted their biggest win since November 14, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Hillcrest Christian 84-43 at home. Given Simi Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Hillcrest Christian is ranked 597th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ryder Mjoen, who scored 26 points along with three steals. Mjoen is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Rener, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Simi Valley is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Hillcrest Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Simi Valley will face off against Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Royal is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Hillcrest Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Dunn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Dunn has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
