After a string of three wins, East Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 6-2 loss courtesy of the Lewisburg Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Patriots are ranked first).

East Central's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Lewisburg, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

East Central wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 6-0 defeat against Oxford on the 4th. As for Lewisburg, they will face off against Horn Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
