The Stranahan Mighty Dragons will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Boyd Anderson Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on January 20th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Wednesday, Stranahan earned a 56-47 win over Miramar. Given Stranahan's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Miramar is ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stranahan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Yeargin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Esron Simeon, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Boyd Anderson suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 79-59 defeat to Western might stick with them for a while.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaydan Silvera, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Jaden Glaze was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two blocks.
Stranahan pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Boyd Anderson, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Stranahan came up short against Boyd Anderson in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 52-48. Can Stranahan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
