The Capital Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Los Lunas. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Tigers are ranked 27th).
Capital's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Annica Montoya, who scored 11 points.
Capital has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Los Lunas, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Capital will head out on the road to face off against the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Santa Fe is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. Los Lunas will take on the Ravens at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
