We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Summer Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Summer Creek came up short against Clear Springs and fell 7-3. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Torie Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Alyssa Flores was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Elaina Bonuelos was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Even though they lost, Summer Creek hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Waller, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over Cypress Lakes on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Avery Jameson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Eliana Espinoza, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Summer Creek, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Both Summer Creek and Waller just can't seem to miss. Summer Creek has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Waller struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Summer Creek's way against Waller when the teams last played back in February of 2018, as Summer Creek made off with a 9-0 victory. Will Summer Creek repeat their success, or does Waller have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
