Catholic of Pointe Coupee has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The Westminster Academy Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Catholic of Pointe Coupee will be strutting in after a victory while Westminster Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Central 50-6 at home. Given Catholic of Pointe Coupee's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while North Central is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cooper Laviolette was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Brooks Capps made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Westminster Academy came up short against St. Edmund on Thursday and fell 26-13.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Westminster Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Catholic of Pointe Coupee against Westminster Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catholic of Pointe Coupee since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
