After a string of eight wins, the Loyalton Grizzlies's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chester. Loyalton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Chester apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophie Holland, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Holland is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Catherine Petterson, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Loyalton's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-7. As for Chester, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Loyalton will take on Princeton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Princeton is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Chester, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Portola at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th.
