On Wednesday, the Mater Lakes Academy Bears faced the Lake Worth Trojans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mater Lakes Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-63 victory over Lake Worth. Winning may never get old, but Mater Lakes Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mater Lakes Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Reid, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reid has scored all season. Bertran Walthour was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Mater Lakes Academy pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.41 points. As for Lake Worth, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.
Mater Lakes Academy will take on Williston at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday. Williston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Mater Lakes Academy likes a good challenge. As for Lake Worth, they will be playing at home against Sagemont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Sagemont has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 238 points over their last four games.
