The Leto Falcons were the 38-37 winner over the Chamberlain Storm when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Leto lost to Chamberlain on the road by a decisive 45-28 margin on Tuesday. Leto was down 38-17 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
When it comes to explaining why Leto lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lizbeth Rivera. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with seven steals and two blocks. That was a full 64.3% of Leto's points, marking the 18th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chamberlain found their leader in underclassman Alyssa Dejesus, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dejesus has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesenia Rodriguez, who scored 11 points.
Leto has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Chamberlain, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-12.
Leto will be playing in front of their home fans against Lennard at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Leto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Chamberlain, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Plant City at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Plant City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
