After flying high against the Madison Mavericks on Friday, the Harlan Hawks came back down to earth. Harlan fell just short of Johnson by a score of 55-52. Harlan has not had much luck with Johnson recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Harlan saw an underclassman step up: Loghan Hamilton scored 20 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. The matchup was Hamilton's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alexa Romero, who scored 12 points.
Harlan's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Johnson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Harlan will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Edinburg at 12:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Edinburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Harlan in Texas (Edinburg is ranked 51st, while Harlan is ranked 212th). As for Johnson, they will square off against Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday.
