Piedmont is 9-1 against Cuthbertson since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Piedmont Panthers will host the Cuthbertson Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Piedmont has four wins , while Cuthbertson has three).
Piedmont's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 23-0 margin over Forest Hills. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Ashlyn Pressley and Jailyn Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pressley pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Thomas struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Pressley has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Pressley scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Thomas went 1-for-2 with four RBI. That's the most RBI Thomas has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emalie Jackson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Aly Mills was another key player, scoring four runs while going 1-for-1.
Piedmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .794. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, everything went Cuthbertson's way against Butler on Monday as Cuthbertson made off with a 15-0 win. Fans of the Cavaliers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Alexis Juhl was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Petroff, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Cuthbertson's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Piedmont, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Piedmont has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Cuthbertson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
