The Seagraves Eagles suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 63-36 loss at the hands of Whitharral. While losing is never fun, Seagraves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1406th, while Whitharral is ranked 563rd).
Leading Whitharral to victory were Nathaniel Sansom and Jack Griffin. Sansom scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Griffin scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griffin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brent Robinson, who scored 11 points.
Seagraves' loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Whitharral, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seagraves will take on Tahoka at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahoka is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Whitharral, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Amherst at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
