Basketball Recap: Ware Shoals Skates Past Whitmire with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ware Shoals). They claimed a resounding 72-24 win over the Whitmire Wolverines. With the Hornets ahead 39-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Ware Shoals found their leader in sophomore Stella Eichhorn, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 19 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Eichhorn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Crockett, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten boards, and ten assists.

Ware Shoals was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklynn Babb, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points and three steals. Babb is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Brooks, who posted five points and three steals.

Ware Shoals' victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Whitmire, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ware Shoals will take on Dixie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitmire, they will challenge Richard Winn Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
