Jefferson Davis Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Richard Winn Academy Eagles at TBD on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jefferson Davis Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past King Academy, posting a 51-6 victory at home. The win was just what Jefferson Davis Academy needed coming off of a 36-16 defeat in their prior contest.
Jefferson Davis Academy relied on the efforts of James Grubbs, who rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and Nasir Void, who rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Void's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards. Paxton Wall was another key contributor, rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Richard Winn Academy entered their tilt with Holy Trinity Classical Christian with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Richard Winn Academy breezed by Holy Trinity Classical Christian at home to the tune of 77-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Jefferson Davis Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Richard Winn Academy, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Jefferson Davis Academy took a serious blow against Richard Winn Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 52-18. Can Jefferson Davis Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
