Baseball Recap: Carrollwood Day Sets Scoring Season-High Against Saint Mary's Hall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carrollwood Day). They were the clear victor by a 13-0 margin over the Saint Mary's Hall Barons on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the match before.

Gabe Troya looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Allen Soriano and Steven Vargo did most of the damage at the plate: Soriano got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Vargo scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, Vargo posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Clarke, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Carrollwood Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Carrollwood Day and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Mary's Hall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
