The Deming Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Bloomfield Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deming is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Santa Teresa hit Deming with a nine-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 11-4 to the Desert Warriors. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 29, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Deming saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Allison, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bloomfield took on Aztec on Tuesday. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 1-0. The win was familiar territory for the Bobcats, who have now won three games in a row.
Trae Woods made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Troy Jaramillo was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Bloomfield's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Deming, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8.
Both Deming and Bloomfield just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Bloomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
