Paxton had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They won by a set and slipped past the Sandhills Valley Mavericks 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now won six in a row.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (66-63) Paxton actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-23, 25-18.

Addison Holm paced Paxton's offense, picking up ten kills. Holm got some help from Hadleigh Kramer and her 19 assists. Cayla Peterson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Coincidentally, Paxton and Sandhills Valley will both be playing Maywood/Hayes Center the next time they take the court. The Mavericks will head out to face the Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 5:00 p.m.
