If the Hancock County Hornets were riding high off their 58-6 takedown of the Frederick Fraize Aces last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hancock County was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 38-37 to the Green Waves. While losing is never fun, Hancock County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Green Waves are ranked 21st).
Meade County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Annabelle Babb, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Medley, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Hancock County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Meade County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Hancock County will play host again and welcome the Fighting Tigers, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Meade County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Red Devils at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
