After flying high against the King Academy Knights last Friday, the Cambridge Academy Cougars came back down to earth. Cambridge Academy took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newberry Academy on Tuesday. Cambridge Academy has struggled against Newberry Academy recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Cambridge Academy still got an impressive performance from Maddox Lee, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Lee is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played.
Cambridge Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Newberry Academy, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cambridge Academy will square off against Oconee Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Newberry Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Anderson Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Anderson Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
