They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Freedom Prep Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around on Friday.
Escalante suffered their biggest loss since November 17, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a rough 68-45 defeat at the hands of Panguitch. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Escalante has suffered against Panguitch since January 10, 2018.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaxen Cottam, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kendal Gardner, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Freedom Prep Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by American Prep WV at home and fell 78-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Freedom Prep Academy in their matchups with American Prep WV: they've now lost three in a row.
Escalante has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Freedom Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
