South Florence extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Tre Leonard. The South Florence Bruins strolled past the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 36-19 thanks in part to Leonard, who rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Gilbert, who rushed for 151 yards on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August of 2023.
South Florence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lower Richland only rushed for 120.
When it comes to explaining why Lower Richland lost, don't look at Jordan Hargrave. Despite the final result, he picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown. Aden Jones was in the mix as well, providing Lower Richland with two touchdowns.
South Florence's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Lower Richland, their record now sits at 5-5.
South Florence will challenge Hartsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hartsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully South Florence likes a good challenge. Lower Richland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
