The Miyamura Patriots will head out on the road to challenge the Rehoboth Christian Lynx at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Miyamura is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Grants just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rehoboth Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They skirted past Gallup 5-4. The Lynx haven't had any issues with the Bengals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jonathan Zylstra and Trajen West were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Zylstra struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, West pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Zylstra went 2-for-3 with one home run and two stolen bases, while West went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Zylstra has posted since back in May of 2024.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach VanDrunen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Rehoboth Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Rehoboth Christian pushed their record up to 2-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Miyamura, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Miyamura has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Rehoboth Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
