4A Region 1 recap November 13, 2013
Prairie Grove added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating Gravette, 28-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Tigers.
Berryville and Pea Ridge played the most contested game in the league this week, with Berryville eventually emerging with a 25-20 victory. Ethan Chapin ran for 139 yards and caught 1 pass for 82 yards in the win.
Austin Carr was a passing and rushing force as the Bobcats beat the Blackhawks. He completed 4 passes for 133 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 56 yards.
Chapin was the best receiver in the league this week as Berryville beat Pea Ridge. Chapin tallied 1 reception for 82 yards. Avery Logan helped Berryville's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 23 yards.
Gentry's Jarod Cousins and Stone Faulkenberry have formed a dream team this season, leading 4A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Cousins has thrown for 1,237 yards this season, while Faulkenberry has 25 catches for 469 yards. The Lions' Cedric Duarte leads the league in rushing yards with 1,241.
Cousins of the the Pioneers is only 49 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Cousins has rushed for 951 yards on 158 carries so far this year.
Lee Atkins' team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,929 from 10,638. The advance stemmed from a 25-20 victory over Tony Travis' team last week.
