It was a good run, but the Northside Christian Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Canterbury. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Northside Christian of the 41-33 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2020.
Despite the loss, Northside Christian saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Rodriguez scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. Sydney White was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds for Canterbury. Alhuzaifi hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Tucker, who scored 13 points.
Northside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Canterbury, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside Christian will take on Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canterbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
