Basketball Recap: Stella Eichhorn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ware Shoals over Abbeville

After flying high against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind last Thursday, Ware Shoals came back down to earth. The Ware Shoals Hornets took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Abbeville Panthers.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stella Eichhorn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Eichhorn is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Crockett, who posted 12 points.

Andreyah Sanders was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points and four steals. Zarria Belton also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Ware Shoals has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Abbeville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ware Shoals will welcome GREEN Upstate at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ware Shoals is facing GREEN Upstate at the right time seeing as GREEN Upstate is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Abbeville, they will be playing at home against McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Abbeville's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so McCormick's offense will have their work cut out for them.
