On Tuesday, the DeMatha Stags faced the Bishop McNamara Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. DeMatha fell to Bishop McNamara 82-78. DeMatha just can't catch a break and has now endured six defeats in a row.
DeMatha lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Malcolm Thomas, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton (ace) Meeks, who scored 17 points.
DeMatha's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Bishop McNamara, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeMatha will take on St. Mary's Ryken at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in DeMatha's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Bishop McNamara, they will head out on the road to challenge The Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
